John Huntsinger Obituary

CONRAD John William "Bill" Huntsinger, 69, of Conrad, a retired carpenter, died of natural causes Friday, Nov. 9, at his home.

Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Pondera Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Conrad. A gathering of friends and family will follow the burial at the Conrad Moose Lodge. Pondera Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Bill was born June 15, 1943, in Conrad to John Henry "Jack" and Elsie Harriett (Orcutt) Huntsinger. Bill's first few years were spent living on the family farm east of Conrad until his dad broke his back. They then moved into Conrad and was raised with his two brothers Tom and Dan. Bill served in the U.S. Navy from February 1961 to March 1964. After receiving an honorable discharge, Bill returned to Conrad.

In June 1965, Bill married Karen Ann Woods in Conrad. Together they had three children: Lana, Lisa and Brett. They later divorced. Bill later met and had a special relationship with Sandra Gail Denney.

Bill loved spending time in the outdoors, whether it was fishing, hunting, camping, snowmobiling or going for a drive. He built many long-lasting friendships through his love of the outdoors with the "camping crew" and many others. After retirement, Bill enjoyed spending time in Mexico and traveling to visit friends and family. Bill loved his grandchildren deeply, making special efforts to attend their school events as much as possible.

Bill is survived by his three children Lana (Gene) Underdahl, Lisa (Cory) Shepherd and Brett (Marci) Huntsinger all of Conrad; his grandchildren, Blayne Underdahl, Blake Underdahl, Amber (Josh) Philipps, Alyssa Keil, Jarek Shepherd, Shae Shepherd and Caden Huntsinger all of Conrad; brother Dan (Shauna) Huntsinger of Pocatello, Idaho, and family; and brother Tom (Barb) Huntsinger of Columbia Falls and family.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, special friend Sandra Gail Denney, ex-wife Karen Moritz and special sisters and brothers-in-law Michelle (Woods) Hauer, Jonna (Woods) Fuhringer and Dean Woods.
