Cherie Kuenning

Cherie Kuenning, 92, of Great Falls, died of natural causes Sunday, March 3, at Park Place Nursing Home.

Memorial service is 11 a.m. Friday, March 15, at First Congregational United Church of Christ. Interment will follow in First Congregational United Church of Christ Columbarium. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Mrs. Cherie Kuenning, widow of attorney John H. "Jack" Kuenning, was born on Oct. 12, 1920, in Harlan, Iowa to Shelby McCabe Cullison and Myrtle (Benedict) Cullison. She grew up in Westwood, Calif. After earning a bachelor's degree in English from UCLA, Cherie moved to Missoula, where she met her future husband.

In 1950, the couple came to Great Falls, where Mrs. Kuenning soon became active in many local public service and arts organizations, including the American Association of University Women, the Great Falls Symphonic Choir, in which she sang alto for many decades, Friendship Force, Junior League, Zonta and the Red Hats Club. She was a loyal member of and regular contributor to the First Congregational United Church of Christ.

Cherie is survived by her three sons, Shelby Kuenning of Great Falls, Geoff Kuenning of Claremont, Calif. and Brad Kuenning of Granada Hills, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Xandie, Nick and Shelby.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Kuenning; and her parents, Shelby and Myrtle Cullison.
