Clifford D. Wright
Palm Desert, CA —Clifford DeWayne Wright, 93, Palm Desert, CA, passed away from natural causes on January 16, 2014 at the home of his daughter, Connie, who lovingly and selflessly cared for her father throughout the final months of his life.
Clifford was born February 8, 1920 on the family farm near Hysham, MT. Raised in Billings, MT, he graduated from Billings Senior High School and served as a U. S. Army medic stationed in the Phillipines during World War II
. Clifford married his high school sweetheart, Naomi Delores Burt, on June 8, 1941 and they moved their young family to Great Falls, MT after the war. It was there he began his lifelong love of the automobile. Going to work as a salesman for the local Chevrolet dealership, he rose through the ranks to General Manager, eventually purchasing his own General Motors
dealership in Conrad, MT in 1960. Clifford and Naomi had four children and Naomi passed away unexpectedly from natural causes in 1974. In 1976 he married Bernice Hefty Wright, who had also lost her first husband to natural causes in 1974. Bernice passed away in 1997 and Cliff later married Verna Enns of Dinuba, CA. Verna preceded him in death in 2013 at the age of 91.
A man of deep Christian faith and conviction, Clifford lived out his life serving his church, neighbors and community. His great love of hunting and the outdoors allowed him the joy of exploring Montana's wilderness on his favorite horse with his beloved family and close friends. As a compliment to his indomitable will and love of life, Clifford learned to ski and golf in his mid-fifties, in addition to raising and training horses for his backcountry exploration, all with a keen wit and sense of humor. Clifford's heartbeat was for his Savior, Jesus Christ, his family, his friends, and his future home in heaven. He loved to read the scriptures, with two of his favorites being, "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth." (III John:4) "Then I heard a voice from heaven say, ' Write: blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.' Yes, says the Spirit, they will rest from their labor for their deeds will follow them." (Rev. 14:13
Clifford is survived by his four loving children, including Connie Wright, Palm Desert, CA; Duane "Skip" (Carol) Louisville, KY; Danford (Dana) Ashburn , VA; and Jerilyn Burchette, Canton, GA. Clifford adored and was so proud of his nine grandchildren, including Kim(Mike) Beatty, Billings, MT; Kerri (Brian) Patrick, West Linn, OR; Tricia(Christian) Cobler, Louisville, KY; David (Jennifer) Louisville, KY; Robert (Tiffany), Las Vegas, NV; Katie (Drew) Archut, Ashburn, VA; Holly Wright, Richmond, VA; and Evan Burchette and Katie Burchette, Atlanta, GA. Clifford also has twelve great grandchildren who live in California, Oregon, Montana and Kentucky.
Clifford's deep and abiding faith, his unconditional love and affection for family and friends and his passion for life, despite his failing health in later years, will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A memorial service will follow at a later date.
