Tucson, Arizona —Genevieve (Ketelhut) Yocum
Genevieve Yocum passed away August 27, 2013 from complications of dementia, surrounded by her family at her home in Tucson, Arizona.
Genevieve Ketelhut Yocum was born February 20, 1932 in Chamberlain, SD. Born to Emil and Frieda Ketelhut, she was the youngest of four children, Ivan Ketelhut (deceased), Betty (Joe) Callen and Merle (Nila) Ketelhut. She met the love of her life, Ralph Yocum in San Francisco, CA in 1954. They were married for 58 years. Her interests included gardening, tennis and golf. She was a fan of U of A women's softball and frequently traveled to Oklahoma City for nationals. She was active in PEO since 1977. Gen was also a breast cancer
She is survived by her husband, Ralph, her children Jeanette (Jim) Talley, Ivan (Cynthia) Yocum, David (Karen) Yocum and Ann (Scott) Clutter. She has 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Her canine companions were Wyatt and RG.
She was a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church her whole life. We rejoice in knowing she is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A funeral service will be held in Chamberlain, SD at Zion Lutheran Church on September 21, 2013 at 1:00 pm, the same church in which Ralph and Gen were married. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
Donations in her remembrance can be made to any breast cancer foundation, dementia research or through a local PEO chapter for the benefit of women's education. As Gen loved flowers, any arrangements are welcome for the funeral service.
