James Leo Grindley

James Leo Grindley, 73, of Great Falls, an Army veteran, died Sunday, March 25, at his home. James chose to take his own life.

A memorial service with military honors is 10 a.m. Saturday at Croxford Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Croxford Funeral Home and Crematory.

James was born Aug. 21, 1938, to Leo and Vondell (Myers) Grindley, in Fort Wayne, Ind. He attended school in Fort Wayne. He joined the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1969. He owned and operated a furniture store in Las Vegas. He enjoyed yard sales, camping and helping his neighbors.

James is survived by his daughter, Samantha (Todd) Mangold of Great Falls; son Jimmy Grindley of Las Vegas; sisters Marle Grindley of Oceanside, Calif., and Arline Grindley of Fort Wayne; brother Joe Grindley of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; and friend Mary Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife Susan Sutton.
