James Lussier

Cascade —James "Jay" Edward Lussier, 85, passed away peacefully October 9, 2013 at his home in Cascade surrounded by his loving family after complications from a stroke. A graveside service will be held Monday, October 14th at 11:00am at the Hillside Cemetery in Cascade. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 12th from 9-5 at Croxford Funeral Home.

Jay was born to Bertha and Joseph Lussier on October 7, 1928 in Great Falls, MT. He was the oldest of three children. He attended school in Great Falls. At the age of 16, he moved to Cascade with his mother and stepfather, Martin "Bubbub" Fraunhofer.

Jay worked on local farms and ranches before serving in the military. He served in the Korean War stationed in Alaska and was honorably discharged.

He returned to Cascade to work construction, then following his love of the outdoors he worked for several local ranches. After retiring, he became a bus driver for the Cascade School.

He was a member of the Cascade Lions Club, American Legion, Cascade Volunteer Fire Department, Single Action Shooting Society, and National Rifle Association.

He married the love of his life, Dorothy Young-Pierce, on July 2, 1966. He became an instant loving and responsible father to his four stepchildren. He built a beautiful house on the bank of the Missouri River. His 5th child, a daughter was born in August 1967.

A working man, he dedicated his life to his family, he taught all of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren the joys of being in God's beautiful country and the love of the outdoors with hunting being his favorite past time. Never having idle hands he was found working in the shop or garden or yard sharing his bounty. He always had his dog by his side and a red hat on his head.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather; sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Charles Replogle; brother-in-law, Richard Hood.

Jay is survived by his wife, Dot, of Cascade; sons, Charles Pierce Jr. (Sandra) of Helena, Doug Peirce (Valgene) of Billings, Terry Peirce (Chris) of Molt; daughters, Cherie Hellman (Jerry) of Billings, Glenda Peterson (Bart) of Denton; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
