Great Falls —Paul Frederick Arnott was being serenaded at home by the angelic voice of his granddaughter Teaghan as he went to be with God on November 16, 2013. Paul had a long, brave and occasionally profanity laced battle with cancer for two years.
Paul requested no services and the family will have a private service in the summer. Cremation has taken place under the direction of O'Connor Funeral Home.
Paul was born in Sault Ste. Marie Michigan to Fred and Roxy (Lackey) Arnott on February 12, 1931. After graduating he worked on a tug boat in the Soo Locks before being drafted into the US Marine Corp
to serve his country in the Korean War
. When discharged, he followed his dream to move to beautiful Montana where he spent the rest of his life.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Paul took great joy in teaching his daughters and grandchildren to fish and hunt. He shared his love for animals and passion for horses with his family. He loved to laugh, have an ice cold beer, and cut a rug to his favorite tune "Just Bummin Around".
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mona; daughters Carla and Jan; grandchildren JD (Steph Ornellas) and Teaghan; brother Glen (Doris) Arnott; numerous nieces and nephews; a neighbor that was like a son, Rick Low; and one of the many rescued animals Paul adopted "Black Bart" the cat. Also surviving Paul is Dr. Bryan Martin and his wonderful staff at Sletten Cancer Institute. The care that they gave to him proves it was not a doctor patient relationship…it was like family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Don and Bill; and sister Gayle Mills.
If friends desire donations in Paul's name, they may be made to the Great Falls Animal Shelter, Peace Hospice, Wounded Warrior Project, or the Montana Hope Project.
