Shirley was a life-long resident of Great Falls. She was born at the Deaconess Hospital on August 5, 1930. Shirley graduated from Great Falls High School and earned her beautician certificate shortly after high school. She met the love of her life, Don Culliton in 1948; they were married in 1951 and were only a few weeks short of celebrating their 63rd wedding anniversary. Their marriage was blessed with four children. Shirley worked as a beautician early in her career, but then she held several positions while working for Village Shoes for over 30 years.
She loved her family above all, and placed her husband, children and their spouses, and grandchildren above her own needs. Her most enjoyable times in life were spending time with family and friends. She and Don were avid baseball fans attending most Great Falls minor league baseball games for over 20 years. Shirley was an active member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church for over 50 years. She particularly loved her yard and flowers around her home. In her later years, Shirley enjoyed listening to reruns of The Lawrence Welk show each Saturday night. Shirley was known to knit wash cloths for all her children and to make excellent tasting "Easter cakes".
Shirley will be greatly missed by her family, her extended family, and her many close friends.
She is survived by her husband, Don; children, Tim (Terri), Dave, Kathy (Norm) Peterson, and Bob; and grandchild Adrienne.
Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine; stepfather Ralph Hankins; and a grandchild Zach.
In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 201 44th St S, Great Falls, MT 59405.
