William Hugh Swanberg Jr.

William "Bill" Hugh Swanberg Jr., 63, of Great Falls, died of natural causes Monday, Feb. 18, at a local care facility.

At his request, no services will be held. Cremation will take place under the care and direction of Croxford Funeral Home and Crematory.

Bill was born Feb. 2, 1950, in Great Falls and was raised and educated in the area. He enjoyed playing the trumpet and was in the band at CMR High School. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. After his discharge from the Army, he remained in New Mexico and worked as a dental tech for three years. When he returned to Great Falls, he lived and worked in several nursing homes here and also in the Havre area.

Bill was interested in photography and went to school to become a camera repairman through National Camera Repair in Englewood, Colo. He drew joy from photographing the beauty of Montana, taking many pictures of Butte, Great Falls and the surrounding areas in black and white as well as color. His other interest was reading military history, something that he always greatly enjoyed. Along with these things, Bill enjoyed bike riding, exploring, hiking in Glacier National Park, collecting stamps and model making.

Bill is survived by his sister, Stephanie of Canada; and his four brothers, John, Chris and Cordell of Great Falls and Dawson of Ronan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Marie Swanberg.
