William Miller

William 'Red' Edward Miller Sr.

Neihart —William "Red" Miller, Sr., 75, of Neihart, passed away of natural causes on February 25 at his home. Cremation has taken place under the care of Croxford Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Red was born January 27, 1939 to Harry and Genevieve Miller in Washington, Iowa. He joined the Navy at age 17 and later joined the Ari Force. While driving the Air Force wrecker, he met his future bride at Kirby Korner Café. He and Esther Holzheimer-Mathes were married in Great Falls in 1963. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at their Neihart home.

Red was an accomplished mechanic. He worked as such for Bison Ford, drove truck for Rice & Zook Brothers, and owned and operated Red's Service in Monarch. There was nothing he couldn't drive or fix.

Surviving William are his loving wife, Esther "Bunny" Miller; daughters Dee (Jim) Zifko and Lorie (Wayne) Taylor; sons, Dan (Melisa) Mathes and Will Miller; sisters, Janet, Deidre, Phyllis and Nancy, all of Iowa; and brother Tom, also of Iowa; as well as grandchildren, Kerri, Danny, Zach, Brittany, Wes, Marshall, Lauralee, Reilly, Bronik, Summer and Logan; and five great-grandchildren. Those who have preceded him in death include his parents; brother, John; sister, Marilyn; and daughter-in-law Amber Williams Miller.
