Barbara (Basiewicz) Aleksinski, 88, of Great Falls, a retired caregiver, died of natural causes Monday, Feb. 18, at a local care facility.

A memorial service is 2 p.m. Friday at O'Connor Memorial Chapel. Cremation has taken place under the direction of O'Connor Funeral Home.
Barbara was born May 7, 1924, in Warsaw, Poland. She grew up and attended schools there, receiving a nursing degree. She worked as a Red Cross nurse, fought in the underground, and was subjected to a prisoner of war camp in Germany during World War II.
Barbara married Frank Aleksinski in 1945, and they moved to Great Falls in 1949. She was a member of St. Ann's Cathedral. She loved to read and help people. She loved music and dancing the polka.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Christine Aleksinski of Great Falls; son Robert Aleksinski of Grayland, Wash.; brother Marian Basiewicz of Warsaw, Poland; and grandchildren Bobby Aleksinski of Portland, Ore., and Ginger Aleksinski of Delavan, Wisc.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Aleksinski in 1979; son Mark Aleksinski in 2005; adopted grandson Robert Arnold; and her children's godparents, Bob and Ann Weldele.
