Cary Levandowski

Helena MT — Cary Vincent Levandowski, 52, surrounded by family, passed away at St. Peter's Hospital in the early morning hours of Dec. 31, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Cary was born Nov. 22, 1961, to Gerald and Doris Twerell Levandowski in Great Falls. Cary was raised in Great Falls, except for two years when his family moved to Tacoma, Wash.

While going to Great Falls High School, he joined the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17. While in the Marines, he attended basic training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Camp Horno in San Diego. He then went into Reconnaissance Reserves for one year; from there he went into the Air National Guard, where he was a weapons arming systems specialist in Great Falls. From the Air National Guard, he went into active duty Marines, where he traveled to the Philippines, Okinawa, Hong Kong and Canada.

After active duty, Cary returned to the Great Falls area. In 1998, he moved to White Sulphur Springs and worked as a mechanic and service attendant for Berg Garage. While in White Sulphur, he met the love of his life, Diann Rademacher, and they were married July 14, 2001.

In 2006, they moved to Helena. Cary worked for Power Townsend for three years and then worked for the state of Montana at the Central Stores and Print and Mail Services before he became too ill to work.

Cary loved to work with cars and computers and loved to cook, trying out new recipes. His true passion was classic rock 'n' roll and was seen almost every summer attending Rockin' The Rivers.

Cary was preceded in death by his grandparents; mother, Doris; and father-in-law, Verle Rademacher. Cary is survived by his wife, Diann; father, Gerald of Great Falls; brothers, Mark of Great Falls and Bret of Puyallup, Wash.; son, Elias Surratt of Great Falls; nephew, Michael of Great Falls; stepson, Jeffrey Girton of Helena; stepdaughter Christina Girton; and step granddaughters Kamarina and Larissa of White Sulphur Springs. He is also survived by mother-in-law, Patricia Rademacher of Helena; brother-in-law, Verle Rademacher (Lynn) of Greenville, S.C.; sisters-in-law, Robin Hutchinson (Doug) of Carson City, Nev., and Rachel Bawden (Doug) of Helena; and various nieces and nephews.

Cary has been cremated and at his request there will be no formal services. There will be a private family gathering at a later date. Twitchell Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, please send any memorials to St. Peter's Hospital Cancer Treatment Center in Cary's name.
