Edward Nash Obituary

Edward R. Nash

Cut Bank —Edward R. Nash, 91, passed away on Feb. 6 of natural causes at the Glacier Care Center with family by his side.

Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:30am on Friday, February 12 at Whitted Funeral Chapel in Cut Bank. Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Friday, February 12 at Prairie Peace Lutheran Church in Cut Bank. Ed will be interred at Crown Hill Cemetery in Cut Bank.

Ed was born in Great Falls Mt. on Jan. 16, 1925. He grew up on the family homestead just south of the Sweet Grass Hills. He attended country school, and schools in Devon, Galata and Shelby. He went to high school for three years in Shelby then graduated from Spring Valley High School, Spring Valley, Wisconsin in 1941.

Ed enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 and served in the 153rd Signal Company of the 13th Armored Division. The division deployed to Europe in 1945 and he was near Munich, Germany when the war ended in Europe. The division then redeployed to California to train for the invasion of Japan. After the war in the Pacific ended, he was discharged in 1946.

Ed studied accounting and business administration at the Minneapolis Business College from 1946 to 1948. He worked as an accountant and bookkeeper at Northern Ford in Cut Bank from 1948 to 1977. He then worked at Weaver Implement until his retirement in 1991.

Ed married Beverly McDermott on Sept. 16, 1950 in Shelby and lived in Cut Bank for the rest of his life. They raised three daughters, Noreen, Rosanne and Pattie. Ed enjoyed hunting and fishing when he was younger. He was an avid gardener all his life, at times maintaining three separate large gardens. Each fall he proudly provided his family and friends with fresh vegetables and raspberries. He also enjoyed spending time at the McDermott place in the Sweet Grass Hills.

Ed is survived by Beverly, his wife of 65 years, his daughters Noreen (Pat) Johnson, Rosanne Nash (Rusty Roberts), and Pattie Wacker (Dave Reiersgard), his sister Viola Allestad and his brother Paul Nash. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers William, Frank, Virgil and Dan, and his sisters Emma, Verda, and Neva.
