POLSON - Pauline (Howarth) Manning, 94, died of natural causes Wednesday, June 27, at St. Joseph Hospital in Polson.

Her funeral is 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Polson. Pauline will be buried with her beloved husband, Lyle, who passed away in 1985. Grogan Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Pauline was born on May 11, 1918, in Great Falls to Albert and Theresa Howarth. The eldest of four, she was educated in Great Falls, graduating from the Ursuline Academy and continuing her education with a teaching degree from MSU-Bozeman.

Pauline met the love of her life while attending college. She and Lyle married in April 1941. Lyle joined the service and Pauline accompanied him to different bases where she began her teaching career.

Settling down in Polson, Pauline opened and operated her dress store, "Pauline's Apparel" until her retirement. In 1971, an aspiring artist, she and five other women started the Sandpiper Art Gallery, which continues to operate today. Pauline's passion for painting and woodcarving continued throughout her lifetime. She always looked forward to spending time with her special friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brothers, Albert and Richard Howarth.

She is survived by her brother, Donald (Sharon) Howarth; a special niece, Rhonda (Mark) Stein of Great Falls and many more wonderful family members.
