Richard Lee "Rick" Hazen, 26, of Great Falls, died Friday, March 18, at his home. The family chooses not to release the cause of death.
His memorial service is 2 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chapel of Chimes Funeral Home.
Rick was born July 25, 1984, in Evergreen Park, Ill., to Colleen and Jerry Hazen. His early life was spent in Illinois, and in 2000 he and his family moved to Great Falls. He graduated from C.M. Russell High School in 2003, and later attended Montana State University-Great Falls College of Technology.
Rick was dedicated to community service, and volunteered his time and energy at the Great Falls Rescue Mission and First Presbyterian Church, where he was a member since moving to Great Falls. He also enjoyed his time working at La Pastada.
Rick had many different hobbies, but among his favorite was his love of reading and writing poetry. He enjoyed playing cards and board games with his close circle of friends at Barnes and Noble. He also loved playing fetch with his best canine friend, Beau.
He is survived by his mother, Colleen Hazen of Great Falls; brothers Daniel Hazen and Thomas Hazen, also of Great Falls; and his grandmother, Maxine Hazen of Everett, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Hazen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Great Falls Rescue Mission.
