The Guest Book is expired.
A memorial service is 10 a.m. Friday at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Military honors provided by the Montana Air National Honor Guard will follow the service. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Bob was born Sept. 20, 1936, to Evelyn (Strong) and Albert M. "Boots" Herzog. He was raised by his loving stepmother, Ida and father Boots. Bob attended school in Hayden Lake, Idaho, Moses Lake Wash., and Great Falls, graduating in 1954. He was employed by the Anaconda Company after high school. Later he joined the Montana Air National Guard as a guardsman, which led to full-time employment. In 1990, he retired from this position at the Guard with 36 years service.
Bob participated in stock car racing in his younger years and had many trophies to prove it. For 30 years the family owned a cabin in Sun River Canyon and this gave everyone wonderful memories. For four years in the early 2000s, he and Judy served as camp hosts at Mortimer Campground, and this was a source of many good times also. Fishing and just enjoying the mountains were among his hobbies as well as his faithful companions – Ginger, Flipper, Reno, Morty and Bootsie.
Bob is survived by his wife, Judy, and children Tami (Herzog) and Lance Crawford of Coeur d'Alene ID, and Tim and Darla Herzog of Pullman, Wash. There are five grandchildren, Jeremy Herzog, Jolene Herzog and Jenna Herzog of Pullman, as well as Tyler Crawford and Cody Crawford of Coeur d'Alene. Bob had two brothers, Richard and Janice Herzog of Great Falls and Jerry and Alice Herzog of Nevada. Also surviving are aunts, uncles and cousins.
His parents, Evelyn, Albert "Boots" and Ida Herzog, and grandparents preceded him in death.
