PORTLAND, OR —Roy A. Connolly, 88, died on Sunday, July 14, 2013 in Portland.
Roy was born Jan. 17, 1925 to Roy and Dolly Connolly in Spokane, Wa. He was a child of the depression, and things were hard. He often told stories of "life on the stump ranch", his home outside Troy, MT that he and his mom homesteaded.
At 17, he joined the Merchant Marines, and saw the world. While on leave, visiting his mother in Shelby, MT he met the love of his life, Doris Miller. They were married on Dec. 16, 1949 in Shelby. In 1962, they moved to Great Falls. Roy went to work at the Anaconda Copper plant.
They loved to golf and dance with the many good friends they made. Roy was the lone Irishman among his good Norwegian friends. To the end, he loved to tell Irish jokes, and celebrate St. Patty's day. He was a kind loving husband and father.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris.
He is survived by his daughter, Cathy, and his son-in- law David.
