She was born July 22, 1929, to Margaret and Harold Oleson. Joyce was raised in the Sun River area and graduated from Simms High School in 1947.

Always a strong supporter of her children's activities she was a Cub Scout Den Mother, Little League Team Mother, and a chaperone at numerous outings and events. In earlier years she enjoyed her ladies bowling group in Chouteau and the couples' league in Fairfield. She enjoyed handicraft projects and volunteered to assist with a variety of community activities ranging from wedding and baby showers to the Centennial celebrations. Joyce and Dale had many memorable travels and camping trips with their special friends and family.
