Richard Friesen Obituary
BLACK EAGLE - Army and Navy veteran Richard Lewis Steven Friesen, 59, of Black Eagle, died of a heart attack Aug. 12 at his mother's home in Sula.
Visitation and his funeral are 2:30 p.m. Friday at Schnider Funeral Home, followed by burial with military honors in Highland Cemetery.
Survivors include sons Jacob and Mathew Friesen of Oberon, N.D.; his mother, Phyllis Friesen of Sula; brothers Robert and Randall Friesen of Great Falls; and a sister, Renita Brewer of Atchison, Kan.
Richard was born Feb. 17, 1951, in Rice Lake, Wis. His family moved to Great Falls in 1952, and he attended Franklin Elementary School and several country schools.
He enlisted in the Army in 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1971. He then joined the Navy and served four years until being honorably discharged.
Richard loved life, fishing, his goats, nature and home.
He was preceded in death by his loving father, Paul Friesen; grandparents Robert and Velma Kringle, and Gerhardt and Anna Friesen; a sister, Roxanne; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
