HOGELAND - Longtime Hogeland resident Ruth Emma (Zellmer) Lacox, 89, died of natural causes Saturday at a Billings care facility.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday at Edwards Funeral Home in Chinook. Her funeral is 2 p.m. Friday at the American Lutheran Church in Hogeland, with burial in Wing Cemetery.
Ruth passed away Oct. 9, 2010, surrounded by her family, at Highgate Senior Living in Billings.
Ruth was born Aug. 6, 1921, in Twete, Mont., the daughter of Gertrude and Otto Zellmer, who were farmers in the area. Ruth graduated from Hogeland High School in 1939 and continued her education by completing beauty school in Chinook, Mont. She then worked as a beautician for Myrtle Wilson in Chinook before she married Aaron Lacox in Harlem, Mont., on Dec. 26, 1945.
Ruth and Aaron began their life together on the family farm 2½ miles south of Hogeland. Ruth was a devoted farm and ranch wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed working in her beautiful yard with many, many flowers. Her immaculate home and yard were admired by all. She was also an active member of the American Lutheran Church in Hogeland and the American Legion Auxiliary.
For the past five years, she was a very active and loved resident of Highgate Senior Living.
Survivors include her sister, Mildred Nielsen of Kalispell; daughters, Sandra (Eugene) Beck of Hogeland, Dixie (Dennis) Roseleip of Billings and Sylvia (Fred Jr.) Mohar of Turner; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gertrude and Otto Zellmer, brother, Leonard Zellmer; and her husband of 60 years, Aaron Lacox.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hogeland American Lutheran Church or any charity of the donor's choice.
