Darlene J. Gallogly Obituary
BILLINGS - Great Falls native Darlene J. Gallogly, 79, of Billings, died of natural causes Friday at her home in Billings.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary of Billings. Her funeral is noon Wednesday at Saint Patrick Cathedral in Billings, with a reception to follow.
Darlene J. Gallogly passed away on Dec. 10, 2010, at home in the loving embrace of her family.
Darlene was born on Jan. 19, 1931, to Jim and Leona Mahoney in Great Falls, Mont., attending local schools and graduating from Great Falls High in the spring of 1949.
She met Pete Gallogly in Great Falls, later marrying him in 1954 in Iceland, where he was a firefighter for the American government. After settling back in Great Falls, she started her lifelong career with the phone company, at that time called "Mountain Bell."
Darlene and Pete raised their family of seven in Great Falls, and after retiring, spent the last 28 years in Billings. With much pride, she followed all of her kids and grandkids in all their sporting activities throughout the years. Always one with an open door to her home and her heart, she raised not only her own children but many, many others, touching forever the lives of all who met her. Affectionately known as "Mrs. G," she had a special fondness for all the people who passed through her home on 24th Avenue, and of course, the championship softball team, The Sponsors, whom she and her husband managed.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Pete; children Colleen Gallogly of Phoenix, Maureen Gallogly-Klaboe (Paul), Sean Gallogly (Nancy), Brendan, Peter and Kathleen Gallogly, all of Billings; a sister, Delores Knechtges of Spokane; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Kevin.
