Maynard Scott Nelson, 61, a worker for Outsources and Easter Seals, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Benefis Healthcare, from complications from pneumonia.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 21, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at O'Connor Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 22, at 10 a.m., at Westside United Methodist Church with cremation to follow. O'Connor Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Maynard was born March 8, 1951, to Marshall and Vergie Nelson in Great Falls.
He was an active participant in Special Olympics for many years. Maynard had a passion for bowling. He bowled at Sky Way in the Tuesday and Wednesday Leagues and also participated in the Cerebral Palsy League. He also enjoyed baseball, basketball, wrestling, and was an avid fan of Andy Griffith. Maynard had a special place in his heart for his cat, Miss Alice.
Maynard is survived by his sister, Dorla Nelson of Great Falls; stepsister Carla Hunt of Great Falls; brother, Martin (Sharon) Nelson of Great Falls, nephews Mark (Charlotte) Nelson, James (Renee) Hewett, River Hewett, Cayden Hewett, Wyatt Nelson and Tony Holt; nieces Heaven Hewett and Delilah Nelson; aunts Alda Nurmi and Una Sundet.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall Nelson and Vergie Nelson; stepmother Lois Nelson; and nieces Martilynn Hewett and Tonya Holt.
