BILLINGS Robert Duane Nielsen, 76, of Billings, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, at St. Vincent Healthcare.

A memorial service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Faith Chapel. Michelotti-Sawyers handled arrangements.
Robert was born May 3, 1936, in Great Falls, to Otto and Edna (Grover) Nielsen. He started working with the phone company in California in 1965, retiring from Qwest in 1990. He then went on to work for TELEPAK Industries and retired in 2010. He married his wife Doris on March 21, 1964, in Las Vegas. They moved to Billings in 1968.
A people person who never met a stranger, Robert loved being with family. He was an avid golfer, getting a hole in one on the Peter Yegen Golf Course. He loved bowling, camping and the outdoors, hunting and black powder shooting, as well as working jigsaw puzzles. He was active in the Elks and the Rod & Gun Club. Robert built his own home, serving as the general contractor.
He is survived by his wife, Doris, children Scott (Tammy) Nielsen (grandchildren Megan and Nicole), Brett (Bernadette) and brother-in-law Ed Kehm, niece Linda Crowell-Berry (Frank), nephew Bob Crowell (Amber), all of Billings; nephew Steve Crowell (Sandy) of Sacramento, Calif.; and son Roger Nielsen (grandchildren Dannielle Nielsen and family and Lester Nielsen) of Las Vegas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Edna; brother Tom Nielsen; and sister Doris Kehm.
