GILDFORD Noel Allen Preeshl, 71, a lifelong Gildford area farmer, died from pulmonary problems Wednesday, March 20, at Billings Deaconess Hospital.

Graveside service is 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at Highland Cemetery in Havre. Arrangements are being handled by Rockman Funeral Chapel in Chester.

Born on Christmas Day 1941, Noel Allen Preeshl was the gift that kept on giving until it was his time to be called home March 20, 2013. Surrounded by family and their love at his Billings Hospital bedside, knowing that he had fought hard to be with us, but could no longer stay with us, he peacefully said goodbye.

Born in Havre to William and Hortense (Stephenson) Preeshl, he spent all of his 71 years on the Hi-line. As the youngest of four children, he learned at an early age the value of hard work. He started farming with his Dad and remained the consultant/supervisor/varmint control specialist in his "semi-retired" years accompanied by his deputy, Pork Chop. Along with farming, he loved to hunt, fish, pull off pranks, watch a good Western, win a game of Pinochle, poker, cribbage or even Pictionary. He was always good with his hands and could somehow find a way to make something out of nothing.

Husband, Dad, Gramps and Great Gramps were titles he wore proudly. His greatest joy came from watching his family grow. Their greatest joy was knowing that his adventurous, generous, sometimes stubborn, loving, hard working, dedicated and determined way was what shaped their lives and will continue through their generations.

Married April 4, 1959, to Joyce (Scheuerman), his loving and loyal wife of nearly 54 years, survives him. The four spirited children they brought into this world together also survive him, Noela Donoven (Jim Young) of Helena, Steve (Kathy) of Gildford, Bryan (Jennifer) of San Jose, Calif. and Bret (Jalena) of Gildford; also surviving him are 11 grandchildren, Nick and Brianna Donoven, Jazlyn and Karlee Young, Kristin (Terry) Hersel, Nolan Preeshl, Russhelle, Lauryn and Brayden Preeshl, and Tande and Thatcher Smith; two great-grandchildren, Brycen and Tenley Hersel; and loyal deputy terrier, Pork Chop. His siblings, Robert (Mary) of Chinook, Joanne (Ole) Warren of Hingham and Paul (Blackie) of Havre, also surviving him were many nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William and Hortense Preeshl.
