Bakersfield, Calif. —(Nov. 24, 1965 - April 20, 2013)
Stacia was born in Dickenson, N.D., to Stan and June Deck. She was raised in North Dakota until her family moved to Santa Barbara, Calif., when she was 14. She graduated from Anacapa High School in Santa Barbara. She moved to Tyler, Texas, and gained a passion for broadcasting, working there at local television station KLMZ. She moved to Great Falls in 1989 to get closer to her grandparents (Earl and Vivian Deck) and to attend the College of Great Falls. She met her husband Richard (Rick) Claassen on Dec. 27, 1989. They married on July 13, 1991. Stacia received a B.A. in Broadcasting, in 1993. She worked for KRTV3 and KFBB5, behind the scenes and as a weekend weather analyst. Stacia decided to give up her passion for broadcasting and become a full time mom. She blessed us with two boys, William Scout Claassen and Bridger Tate Claassen. The children became her passion. She followed her husband Rick through his careers from Great Falls to Billings, to Arroyo Grande, and Bakersfield. She loved her children more than anything. She also loved her two dogs, Shiloh and Jake. Stacia enjoyed lots of talking with family, friends, or just a stranger in the store. She liked watching "The Ellen Degeneres" show and camping or fishing with Rick and the boys. She was only here a short time but gave us a lifetime of memories.
Stacia is survived by her husband, Rick Claassen and her sons, Scout Claassen and Bridger Claassen, all of Bakersfield, parents Stan and June Deck of Solvang, Calif.; sister Cherie Deck, of Goleta, Calif.; sister Valli Deck of Bismarck, N.D.; brother Ted Deck and his wife Patty of Solvang; and brother Spencer Deck of Ft. Lewis, Wash. (US Army).
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, April 26, 2013. Cherished Memories Memorial Chapel - 701 - 34th Street, Bakersfield, CA.
