Kenneth E. Lewis Sr.

Kenneth E. Lewis Sr., 75, of Great Falls, a retired truck driver and United States Air Force veteran, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013, from natural causes at his home.

A memorial service is 2 p.m. Friday at O'Connor Memorial Chapel. Cremation has taken place under the direction of O'Connor Funeral Home.

Ken was born September 1, 1937 in Saxton, Penn., and was the son of Thelma and David Lewis. He graduated high school and college in Pennsylvania and went on to serve four years in the United States Air Force. He met his wife, May Ann, while stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, and they were married March 17, 1963.

Ken earned several awards for safety and professionalism during his 35-year career. He was recognized by the American Trucking Association on two occasions, placing 2nd in national competition, and received many honors from several states for his dedication to safe driving.

Ken especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons as they were growing up, camping trips with the family and watching Griz games with his grandson. After retirement, Ken and Mary Ann traveled with their 5th wheel trailer to several places in the northwest, enjoyed seeing new places and making new friends. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and Teamsters Union.

Ken is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Ann Lewis of Great Falls; sons Kenneth E. (Christie) Lewis Jr. and Michael Jay Lewis both of Great Falls; sister Darla Steele of Saxton; brother Glen Carbaugh of Saxton; and grandchildren Aarika Lewis of Kalispell and Jackie, Jennifer, and Matthew Lewis all of Great Falls.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma and David Lewis.
