Julia Apel Obituary

Apel, Julia C.

Julia C. Apel, 85, of Sheboygan Falls passed away Thanksgiving morning, November 22, 2012 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center of congestive heart failure.

Julia was born February 15, 1927 to Stanley and Catharine (Helka) Sipiorski in Denmark, WI.

One of thirteen children, she attended local Pine Grove schools and went on to earn her G.E.D. at the age of 61.

On October 4, 1947, Julia and Lloyd G. Apel were united in marriage at Pine Grove Rectory in Pine Grove, WI. They spent their entire marriage living on Sheboygan's south side. He preceded her in death on June 16, 1984.

She was a proud homemaker for many years and was later employed for over 20 years by Excelsior Laundry in Sheboygan.

Julia was a member of Ebenezer U.C.C. and the V.F.W. 1230 Ladies Auxillary. She loved to read and do embroidery (especially dish towels), but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed her occasional visits to the Denmark area with relatives and friends.

Julia is survived by her children, Joan (Chris) Shircel, of Plymouth, and Larry (Diane) Apel of Sheboygan Falls; nine grandchildren, Steven (Barbara) Shircel, Timothy Shircel, Brian Shircel, Angela Corgiat, Nathan Apel, Teresa (Josh) Heinz, Brenda (Andy) States, Rebecca (Jason) Miller and Betsy (Ken) Walters; nine great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Devin Shircel, Aaron Corgiat, Avalonne and Genevieve Heinz, Caden States, Hunter and Dylan Miller, and Tougo Walters; a daughter-in-law, Marjorie Apel of Wausau, WI; a brother Clem (Joyce) Sipiorski of Denmark, WI; two sisters, Dorothy (Ernst) Rosik of Denmark, WI and Audrey (Myron) Rentmeester of Green Bay, WI; and sister-in-law Mary Ann Sipiorski of Denmark, WI; and other family and friends.

In addition to her husband Lloyd, Julia was preceded in death by her son, Lewis; her parents; five brothers, John, Martin, Bernard, Frank and Felix; four sisters, Margaret, Anna, Angeline and Gertrude.

A memorial fund has been established in Julia's name.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, 3215 Saemann Avenue, Sheboygan, WI 53081 at 12:00 Noon. Rev. Dr. Roger J. Mealiff will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Private burial will be held at Wildwood Cemetery.

The family of Julia would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Sheboygan Progressive Care Center, specifically the 300 wing where she had been residing since November 2nd, and the ICU staff at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center for the compassion and care shown to her.

Grandma, you have become an important part of the family I married into. You have always treated me as your granddaughter. I enjoyed our many mornings at church and breakfasts afterwards and at holiday gatherings at Chris and Joanie's. I know you hated depending on us for doctor appts in the past few years, but it was never a burden to spend time with you. I am glad that you are no longer suffering or in pain, but you have already been missed (Thanksgiving and church today).... Miss you and love you! Barb Shircel
