Barszcz, Stephen

Stephen Barszcz, 89, Green Bay and formerly of Sampson, died Friday evening, Feb. 8, 2013, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King. The son of the late John and Cecelia (Welk) Barszcz was born March 17, 1923 in Abrams.

Steve served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, Wisconsin Northwoods Chapter #23. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII. After the war, Steve worked for American Motors, and then Chrysler in Milwaukee. After retirement, he moved to Mason Manor in Green Bay. Steve was a member of UAW #75. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #9719, Pulaski and the Navy Club, Ship 18 in Green Bay.

Steve is survived by the children of his sisters, Frances (George) Misco, Judy (Wayne) Birr, and his brother Stanley (Sophie) Barszcz, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Frances, Judy, Stanley, Joe and Alex.

Friends may call at Marnocha Funeral Home, 186 E. Pulaski St, Pulaski, at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday. The Funeral Service will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, Fr. Patrick Gawrylewski, O.F.M. officiating. Spring burial will take place in the Morgan Cemetery.

A memorial fund for Wisconsin Veterans Home, King and Cerebral Palsy Aquatic Therapy has been established.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jim K. for his many trips and shopping adventures, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit in Pulaski, the second floor personnel of Stordock Hall WVH, King for their care, and all of his nieces and nephews who helped him in his time of need.
