Katie Humphries Obituary

Humphries, Katie Belle (Thomas)

Katie Belle (Thomas) Humphries was born on Dec. 16, 1918. in Griffin, Ga., to Nathaniel and Annie Bathea Thomas. After a long and rich life, she died peacefully on March 20, 2013, at home in West Fargo, N.D., surrounded by her family.

Katie was preceded in death by her parents, 12 siblings and their spouses and two husbands, Fred Kaatz and John Humphries. She is survived by her only child, Doris Kaatz Shive, her son-in-law, Steve Shive, and two grandchildren, Claire Shive and Jordan Shive.

She was graciously cared for by Dr. Kaushik Bhunia, Hospice of the Red River Valley and Irina Tyulyandina. Katie was a faith and joy-filled woman who cared deeply for her family and people of all walks of life.

A family service of resurrection will be held at a later time. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Red River Valley or the Great Plains Food Bank.
