Anthony "Tony" J. Buhr Jr., 63, Brussels, passed away on Jan. 23, 2012, at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born on Aug. 29, 1948, in Lincoln, to Anthony and Ella Mae (Baudhuin) Buhr Sr. Tony worked for Peterson Builders Inc. and Bay Ship Building and was a member of the Boilermakers Union for over 40 years. While he was working in the shipyards, he also had his own roofing and painting business. Most recently, he had worked for Kewaunee Fabrication. Tony was a member of the Ringneck Pheasant Club and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, wine-making, gardening, woodworking, bird watching, dancing, card-playing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. On May 2, 1970, he married Darlene DeKeyser at St. Mary's Church in Namur.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene; two sons, Tim (Shelly) Buhr, Brussels; and Shane (Jennifer) Buhr, Brussels; three daughters, Melissa Martinez, Brussels; Erin (fiance, Dustin Fritsch) Buhr, Sturgeon Bay; and Hope (Steve) DeFere, Sturgeon Bay; 13 grandchildren, Brandon, Brett, Dylan, and Devin Buhr, Elizabeth, Bo, Sam, and Alex Buhr, Isabella Martinez, Jacob, Sage, Emiah, and Calla Rose DeFere; his father, Anthony Buhr Sr., Casco; brother, Dennis (Renee) Buhr, Casco; three sisters, Arlene (Mark) Denis, Green Bay; Lynne (Mike) Evanoff, Boca Raton, Fla.; and Tammy (special friend, Chuck Bliss) Borley, Algoma. He was preceded in death by his mother; a son, Jacob "Jake" Buhr; granddaughter, Elena Martinez; and a brother, Chuck Buhr.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at St. Francis and St. Mary Parish in Brussels. Burial will be in the St. Mary of the Snow Church Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, Jan. 27, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay and at the church on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
