Dorothy M. Schauer, 91, Green Bay, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014. She was born in Kewaunee, WI on May 17, 1922, to the late Jule and Mary "Mamie" (Lemens) Cravillion.
She worked at Plumbers Woodwork in Algoma until her marriage to John L. Schauer on October 16, 1946, at St. Peters Church in Lincoln. They moved to New Franken and lived there until she and John purchased their home in Green Bay. John preceded her in death on September 19, 1985.
She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Parish, St. Elizabeth Altar Society, St. Mary's Mission Group, the Friendship Club, Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites- Green Bay Chapter and Small Christian Community. Dorothy enjoyed quilting, playing cards and in earlier years vacationing with relatives and friends.
Dorothy was employed by R. L. Polk (Wrights City Directory) in Green Bay and Oshkosh for many years.
Survived by a son-in-law, Scott Piper; former daughter-in-law, Christine Bast-Friesen; grandchildren, Jennifer (Steve) Kelly, Stephanie Schauer, Carrie (Eli) Vanden Wymelenberg, Matthew Piper, Danielle (fiance', Bryan) Piper, and Megan Bast; great grandchildren, Cetera, Cody, Jack, a baby on the way, Mackenzie, and Austin; sisters-in-laws Elmira Schauer, Marion Schauer, and Clara Vander Kelen; special niece and godchild, Elaine Piontek; many special nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; two sons, Larry and Daniel Schauer; her daughter, Margaret (Margie) Piper; her parents, Jule and Mamie Cravillion; a sister and brother-in-law, Marcella and Joseph Schauer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Raymond Schauer, Marie & Hub Rentmeester, Paul Schauer, Cletus Schauer and Walter Vander Kelen; nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. There will be a Rosary Service at 4 p.m. Sunday and a Parish Wake Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 10 to 11 a.m Monday at the church. Funeral Mass 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, 645 S. Irwin Ave. with the Rev. Patrick Gawrylewski OFM officiating. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
