Eleanor (Szalkowski) Brunette, 92, of Green Bay passed away on March 1, 2014 after a short illness. She was born on November 26, 1921 to the late Frank and Anastasia Szalkowski. Eleanor married Robert "Bob" Brunette on June 26, 1948 at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church. Eleanor loved spending time with her family whom she loved dearly. Eleanor also enjoyed knitting, playing cards, especially Rummy 500, was a Brewer fan and a very talented seamstress. She had a great personality and could strike up a conversation with anyone. She was very proud of her Polish heritage and especially enjoyed singing 'Sto lat' at birthday celebrations.
Surviors include her daughters Laurie (Pete) Milinski, Kaukauna; Jeannie (Dana) Balevre, Allouez; two sons, Joe (Debra) Brunette, Madison; Paul (Margaret) Brunette, Brookfield; five grandchildren, Zoe Scott and Emma Brunette, Matthew Balevre, Gus and Leo Brunette; two brothers, Joe Szalkowski, Kalamazoo, MI; Clem (Marge) Szalkowski, Waukesha; Sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Don) Cuene, Green Bay; Norma Brunette, TX; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Brunette; her daughters, Mary Ellen and Barbara; five brothers, Ben, Felix, Charlie, Walter and Leo; two sisters, Anne and Fran.
Friends may call at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, 645 S. Irwin St. from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday. Funeral Mass 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Patrick Gawrylewski, OFM officiating.
