Frances Hartman

Hartman, Frances Celeste Gromaire

Frances Celeste Gromaire Hartman, 92, succumbed to breast cancer June 24, at her residence, Wyndemere Estate, in Green Bay. She was born in Hammond, Ind., Feb. 19, 1921, and attended the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, where she earned a Master of Music degree. In 1968, she was married to William J. Hartman, who preceded her in death in 2010. She shared her room at Wyndemere with her baby grand piano, on which she played classical pieces to the delight of staff and residents alike. She was also active in the graphic arts. She held strong opinions about public issues and expressed them frequently in letters to the editor. She is survived by her five stepchildren, Harvey Hartman, Lee Hartman, Judy Davis, Roger Hartman, and Nina Hartman; and by a nephew, Brian Gromaire. A ceremony of remembrance will be held later this summer at a time and place to be announced.
