Dufek Jr., George J.
George J. Dufek Jr., 85 years, of Sturgeon Bay, died early Wednesday morning (July 9, 2014) at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center in Green Bay.
He was born September 30, 1928 in the Town of Union, the son of the late George August and Irene Helen (Jeanquart) Dufek. On September 29, 1956 George married Patricia Ann Weber at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on June 2, 1992.
George had farmed with his parents on the family farm until he was married and then worked with the CO-OP operating the portable feed mill. He later started his own painting business. Eventually his sister-in-law, Daun Poh took over his painting business. He owned and operated George Dufek Roofing along with his brother-in-law, John Weber from 1969 to 1993 when he suffered a brain injury following a moped accident.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and as a youth along with his family at Holy Name of Mary Parish in Maplewood. George was a kind and gentle man which never changed even after his moped injury. He enjoyed looking for and admiring antique farm equipment, and going fishing with his boat.
Survivors include his two sisters, Carolyn Marin of Maplewood, Dorene Dufek of Green Bay; one brother, Richard Dufek of Sturgeon Bay; two sisters-in-law, Marvel (Roger) Hartel of Sturgeon Bay and Florida, Eleanor Dufek of Green Bay; one brother-in-law, John (Jean) Weber of Sturgeon Bay; and many nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; his parents, George and Irene Dufek; two brothers, Francis and Wallace: one sister-in-law and her husband, Daun (George W.) Poh; brother-in-law, Robert Marin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday (July 16, 2014) at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Maplewood with Rev. Carl Schmitt as celebrant. Burial will be made at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
