George J. Skarban

George J. Skarban, 75, of Oconto, was taken to his heavenly home on July 22, 2014. George was born January 23, 1939 to the late George and Wilma (Ziesmer) Skarban. He graduated from Oconto Falls High School class of 1957. George married Darlene McFadden on November 26, 1960. George loved riding his moped, playing cards, pickle ball, coffee breaks with his friends and spending time with his family. George was loved by many. He served his Country in the Army National Guard from 1957-1964 and was a member of AMVETS.

George is survived by his wife, Darlene of 53 years; two daughters, Lori (Gary) Shehow; Sandi (Paul) Reed. Four grandchildren, Ryan (Amanda Derry) Skarban, Dawn Gromoske, P.J. (Christy)Reed, John (Britt Race) Reed. Ten great grandchildren, Gage Borah, Aliyaha, Jada, Marley and Jeffery Skarban, Jasmine and Blake Gromoske, Grayden and Devin Reed, Addy Lubas. He is further survived by two sisters, Irene Skarban, Georgia Anne Effenburger; two brothers, Norbert (Darlene)Skarban, Otto (Cathy) Skarban; many nieces and nephews; four sisters-in-law, Pat Skarban, Florence Hayes, Elaenor (Terry) Bendt, Margie McFadden, Stella (Regis) Gentz; two brothers-in-law, Bob McFadden, John (Yvonne) McFadden. He was preceded in death by a brother Howard and niece, Trish Skarban-Waschbisch.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 8 PM Thursday, July 24, 2014. Visitation will continue on Friday, July 25 from 10 to 11 AM at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted 11 AM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Frederik Schulz officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery with Military Rites by Oconto American Legion. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net.
