Josie M. Destree, 98, of Sturgeon Bay and formerly of Brussels, passed away on Jan. 1, 2013, at Ministry Door County Medical Center. She was born in the Town of Union on July 27, 1914, to Frank and Julia (Jadin) Jauquet.
On May 22, 1934, she married Willie J. Destree at Namur; he passed away on July 7, 1997. Josie was a life long resident of the area and farmed with her husband in the town of Gardner for many years. They were caretakers of St. Francis Church in Brussels for several years. She was known for making delicious Belgian pies and she enjoyed dancing and playing cards.
Survivors include a sister, Ida Alsteen, Luxemburg; 2 brothers, Al (Rena) Jauquet, Crivitz; and Francis (Rita) Jauquet, Brussels; in-laws, Lucy Jauquet, New Franken; Clarence and Marion Destree, Brussels; Mildred Destree, Brussels; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 infant daughters, 2 brothers, George and John; 2 sisters, Jennie and Florence.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at St. Francis and St. Mary Parish in Brussels. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Friends may call on Friday from 3-7:00 p.m. at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
