Lenz, Marilyn J.

Marilyn J. Lenz, Little Chute, age 83, died at her home on Saturday March 23, 2013 after a courageous battle with lung cancer surrounded by her son and daughter-in-law. She was a 35 year survivor of colon cancer. Marilyn was born in Kaukauna on April 12, 1929 to the late Stanley and Verna Lizon. She married Richard Lenz on December 27, 1948 at St. Mary's Parish in Kaukauna. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2008. Marilyn worked at Kimberly Clark, Sugar and Spice Bakery and retired from Zaug's Vending after 25 years.

One of Marilyn's greatest pleasures was taking her grandchildren on summer camping vacations throughout the United States and Canada. She also enjoyed trips to the casino, playing cards and helping others.

Marilyn was involved in many activities and held many posts. She was a Girl Scout leader, member of Woman's Life and Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 Ladies Auxiliary, first president of the Little Chute Mustang Auxiliary and served as president of the Golden Agers for over 10 years.

Marilyn and Richard were avid square dancers for over 40 years. They belonged to NSDCA and held many positions on the National Board of Directors, National Staff and local chapters.

Marilyn is survived by her son, Jerry (Penny) Lenz of De Pere; grandchildren: Justin, Brandon and Tyler (Jen) Lenz; great grandson Jacob Richard Lenz; brother Robert (Dorothy) Lizon; and sister Lois Bunnow. She is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband of 59 years, Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Verna Lizon; an infant son Bruce; brother Jerry; father and mother-in-law William and Lillian Lenz; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Cletus (Marie) and Dave (Jan) Lenz, Jack Milis and Carl Bunnow.

The Lenz family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Nathan Munson, Dr. Xin Yao, Dr. John Swanson Jr. his caring hospice team, the nurses, and staff at Radiology Associates of Appleton and Fox Valley Hematology & Oncology for their kind and thoughtful care for mom during this time. We would also like to thank the many neighbors who she grew to love in her own special way. We wish to thank them for their thoughtfulness, friendship and kindness. They were always there to lend a hand.

Marilyn's Funeral Mass will be held at 5:00 pm on Tuesday April 2, 2013 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St. Little Chute). The church will open at 4:30 pm. The Rev. James Hablewitz will officiate. There will be time for visiting and fellowship immediately following Mass in the Fellowship Hall. Committal St. John Cemetery.
