Mary L. (Salscheider) Meyer(1928 - 2014)

Meyer, Mary L. (Salscheider)

Mary L. (Salscheider) Meyer, 85, lifelong resident of Howard, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, on Friday, April 18, 2014 after a short illness. She was born July 1, 1928, in Green Bay to John and Serena (Steeno) Salscheider.

On October 30, 1948 Mary was united in marriage to Leonard "Lenny" Meyer at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Howard. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1988. Mary was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Parish where she also was a member of the Christian Mothers. She volunteered for many years at the March of Dimes.

Mary loved country and polka music, singing and harmonizing with anyone who she could join in with, and playing keyboard and accordian at local nursing homes. She enjoyed spending time at her cottage at Crooked Lake where she enjoyed pontoon boat rides. She also enjoyed walking with and having breakfast with her lady friends, Hazel, Helen, Mavis, Mae, and Jen. Mary cherished time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and having an old fashioned cocktail with her sister, Sally. She also loved the Packers and spending time in her flower garden. She worried about her looks but always looked beautiful - ask anyone who knew her.

Mary is survived by her children and their spouses, Michael and Julie Meyer, Tom Meyer, Debbie and Bob Gore, Wendy and Wayne Perleberg, Sue and Todd Gutzman, Lori and Bob Michaels; 13 grandchildren and their spouses, Sara and Carlos Salas, Michael Jr. and Sarah Meyer, Paul Meyer, Stacie and Jesse Lawrenz, Justin Meyer, David and Holly Gore, Jenny and Todd Brice, Joe Perleberg, Andrew Gutzman, Tyler Gutzman, Zachary Gutzman, Mitch Michaels, Travis Michaels; 13 great-grandchildren; her sister, Sally Basteyns; and sisters-in-law, Louise Salscheider, Priscilla (Bert) Milson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard "Lenny"; her parents; two brothers, Michael and Patrick Salscheider; brother-in-law, James Basteyns; her golden retriever, Suzie; and numerous other brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

As Dad would say "If you need me, I'll call you" … and he did.
