Mary Lee (Swartz) Robertson, 73, Oneida, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013. She was born at home in a brownstone apartment building near Lincoln Park in Chicago, IL. on September 7, 1939, to the late John and Violet (Medbourne) Swartz. She began her elementary education at St. Christina School in Oak Lawn, IL, then at St. Joseph School in Logansport, IN. Mary went to Carl Schurz High School in Chicago where she was an honor roll student every year and a part of the girl's rifle team, graduating in 1957. While in high school, she was received an anonymously privately donated full scholarship to attend Northwestern University. She was a Civil Air Patrol Cadet, promoted to Corporal in 1954, before graduating high school. She received parachute, search and rescue training at O'Hare Air Force Base participated in several search and rescue missions and was promoted to Sergeant. She resigned to attend Northwestern University Evanston School of Nursing and earned a degree in nursing. While in college, she was in drama, a writer and editor for the BLUE RAG newsletter, homecoming floats worker and rider, Big Sister for incoming freshman and represented Evanston Hospital School of Nursing to various career days.

She was first employed in Chicago from 1960-1963, at Passavant Hospital as a Research Department head nurse. She moved to Wisconsin and from 1963-1969 she worked as head nurse in the Orthopedic Department at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. She moved from Appleton to Green Bay and from 1969-1975, she was employed at Bellin Hospital and was the Emergency Room Department Supervisor. While employed at Bellin, she attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas where she earned her degree as an E.R. Specialist. Her in service training was in all aspects of emergency department, from design, function, service, supervision, including ambulance management, coroner, medical examiner and police case forensics.

On July 19, 1975, she married her soul mate, Bruce Robertson, who preceded her in death in 2008.

Survivors include her son, Preston (Maria) Neetzel; daughter, Dawn (Alan) Gribble; stepson, Thomas (Jane) Robertson; stepdaughter, Laura (Paul) Harrigan; five grandchildren, Jackie Ornelas, Lucy (Scott) Haralson, Dixy Morales, Nicole Gribble, Joshua Gribble; great- granddaughter, Ava Joy Haralson; several step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; step- great-great- grandchildren; sisters, Regina Knight, Anita (Joe) Vandenelsen; foster brother, Anthony Moskal; nieces, Paula Pagano, Justine (Jim) Ewalt (her goddaughter); nephews, Christopher Paul, Jeffrey Knight, Richard Knight, Tony Pagano; many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Rosalie Swartz.

Friends and family may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. The Oneida singers will begin at 6 p.m. and the funeral service will be held at 6:30 p.m. with Deacon Everett Doxtator officiating.
