Van Caster, Neal W.
Neal W. Van Caster, 82, Green Bay, died Thursday, January 23, 2014, following a brief illness. He was born October 14, 1931, in Green Bay to Harry and Marion (Pembroke) Van Caster.
Neal was a graduate of Green Bay East High School, Class of 1949. On October 14, 1950, he married Donna M. Coppersmith at Blessed Sacrament Episcopal Church. Neal worked for the Green Bay Fire Department, retiring in 1987 as Captain. He owned and operated the Dairy Inn on Velp Ave. Neal was a member of the Green Bay Shrine Club, and the "Sprees" of the Shrine Club. Neal and Donna wintered at their condo in Las Vegas for many years. Family was important to Neal. He loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Donna; his children and their spouses, Debbie and Jeff Hendricks, Rick and Mary Van Caster, Kathy and Chris Servais; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Katheryn and Kelly Boots, Todd and Melanie Hendricks, Andy and Chelle Van Caster, Jeff and Jill Van Caster, Joey and Stacy Van Caster, Jessica and Rob Ecke, Mike Servais and special friend, Lisa; ten great-grandchildren, Kyla, Caden, Kyle, Joel, Sophia, Jackson, Adrian, Bryce, Brianna, Bennett; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Gerald and Delores Van Caster, Tom Van Caster; three sisters and their spouses, Nancy and Mike Gauthier, Bonnie and Jim Schumacher, Vicky and Gary Gilsoul; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Carol Jean; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Virgil Coppersmith.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. The Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Blessed Sacrament Episcopal Church, 825 N. Webster Ave., at 11 a.m. Monday with Rev. Michael Scolare officiating.
