Lally, Patrick Hollister

Patrick Hollister Lally, 80, on Nov 4, 2012, in St. Paul, Minn. Born in Green Bay, to Ethel (Hollister) and Chet Lally, he attended St. Patrick's grade school and graduated from Central Catholic in 1950. Pat earned his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 1954 and later returned to Notre Dame for his Master's in English. He attended the University of Minnesota for his doctoral work in American Studies. Pat was a professor of English for nearly 40 years at the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minn., where he also coached the men's tennis team. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Ann (Gleason); four children, John (Susan Lynch), San Francisco; Joseph, Mendota Heights, Minn; Brigid (Erik) Gustafson, Woodbury, Minn.; and Jane (Jon) Montei, Mendota Heights, Minn.; and eight grandchildren. Also survived by brothers, Thomas (Shirley) Lally, Suamico; and William Lally, LaGrange, Ill. Funeral services were held on Thursday, Nov. 8, in St. Paul. Memorial Mass at St. Patrick's Church, 211 North Maple Avenue, Green Bay, on Friday, Nov. 16, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Listening House, 215 9th Street West, St. Paul, MN 55102, or donor's choice.
