Robert E. "Pat" Patzke, 89, a lifelong Green Bay resident, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Oct. 28, 1923, to Rudolph "Happy" and Josephine (Mommaerts) Patzke. Pat graduated from West High School with the Class of 1941 and attended UW-Oshkosh before graduating from UW-Madison. He served his country in both World War II
and the Korean War
in the U.S. Navy
. On Jan. 22, 1951, he married Cecilia "Ceil" Deprey at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. The couple enjoyed over 62 years of marriage.
Pat retired as an office manager at IBM after 31 years of employment. He was an avid golf fan, enjoying both playing and watching the sport. Pat was a proud part-owner of the Big Cheese Packer Bus. He was a member of Annunciation Parish and was a former member of the Green Bay School Board. His most cherished times were those spent with family.
Survivors include his wife, Ceil; three children and two sons-in-law, Rob Patzke, Madison; Lori and Bruce Desotelle, Holly and Craig Lawniczak, all of Green Bay; eight grandchildren, Shay Patzke and Cole Patzke, Madison; Jeni (Nicky) Dobry, Milwaukee; Leah Dobry, Green Bay; Shaina (Nick Schreiter) Desotelle, Milwaukee; Tod Desotelle, Albuquerque, NM; Mathew (Maggie) Lawniczak, Waupaca; Jason Lawniczak, Madison; a great-grandson, Vincent; brothers, sisters, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Terrence and Rosemary Patzke, Clyde and Millie Patzke, Carol Robillard, LaVerne DeCleene, Leona DeCleene, Jeanne Cartier, Jerrie Deprey, Mary Deprey, Mary Ann Prochaska, Wayne Deprey, Ron Deprey, Connie Letourneau, Karen and Don Collins, Jim and Mary Deprey, Tom and Jeri Deprey; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, brothers, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gen and Joe Van Groll, Helen Van Groll, Roy and Gloria Patzke, Velma Patzke, Mike and Margaret Patzke, Harold DeCleene, Vic DeCleene, Gene Robillard, Moe Cartier, Mel Deprey, Larry and Cathy Deprey, Don Deprey, Dan Deprey, Dale Prochaska and Roach Letourneau; and special friends, June and Richard "Rab" Rebitski.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. There will be a parish wake service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue after 9:30 a.m. Friday at Annunciation Catholic Church, 401 Gray St. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church with Rev. David Koch officiating.
