Paters, Roland R.

Roland R. "Rollie" Paters, 87, Green Bay, died suddenly Wednesday, October 23, 2013. He was born May 9, 1926, in Marion, to the late Theodore and Marian (Christensen) Paters. Roland served his country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Mississippi. Recently, he was proud to participate in the Old Glory Honor Flight to the World War II Memorial in Washington D.C.

Roland married Rita B. Gerrit who preceded him in death in 2009. He had worked for Bay West Paper for over 30 years before his retirement.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Sandy Smith; a granddaughter, Michelle L. Paters; three step-daughters, Joy (Gordon) DeVos, JoAn (Victor) Vollkommer, Judy (Robert) Gillette; a close family friend and "second son", Donald (Shawna) Thomas; two brothers, John Paters, Robert (Mary) Paters; two sisters, Ruth (Tom) Sullivan, Joan (Les) Angel; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his son, Roland P. Paters and a brother, Theodore "Junior" Paters.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013, at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
