Ruth C. Blanshan, 91, Green Bay, died Tuesday, October 29, 2013. She was born October 8, 1922, in Marinette to Elmer and Dena (Johnson) Anderson.
Ruth graduated from Marinette High School in 1940 and attended Ausburg College in Minneapolis and the Business School of Milwaukee. She had been employed in Milwaukee until 1957 when she moved to Green Bay. In July of 1961, Ruth married Ralph P. Blanshan at First United Methodist Church. She was employed as a legal secretary at Everson, Whitney, Brehm and Everson Law Firm for many years. Ruth was a member of First United Methodist Church, past officer of United Methodist Women, a member and Past Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge #185, a member and past officer of Bellin Hospital Auxiliary, and a longtime tutor for the Literacy Council.
Ruth is survived by two stepdaughters, Marcia (James) Bethurem, Cecil; and Sue (Barbara Smith) Blanshan, Okemos, MI; granddaughter, Jenny Bethurem; sister-in-law, Jean Rohloff; brother-in-law, Harold Blanshan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; and two infant siblings.
Friends may call at First United Methodist Church, 501 Howe St., from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. There will be a Rebekah Lodge #185 Memorial Service held at 6:30 p.m. Friends may also call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. The Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with Rev. David Kalas officiating. Burial will be in Nicolet Memorial Gardens. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family.
