Coral MacKay Obituary

MacKay, Coral Lee (Anderson)

Coral Lee (Anderson) MacKay, 86, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at The Milwaukee Catholic Home. Coral Lee, a longtime resident of Green Bay, was born in Sturgeon Bay on March 8, 1929, to Harland and Fern Anderson during a blizzard. The snow plow had to clear the road out to the house so the ambulance could follow. She was born 2lb. 3oz. and was written about in a medical journal as a "Miracle Baby." On December 29, 1952, Coral Lee married Darrel "Bud" MacKay at Moravian Church in Sturgeon Bay.

Coral Lee taught at high schools in Green Bay and was an academic advisor at UWGB until she retired in 1998. She was a huge sports fan. Cora Lee loved cheering for her Cubs, Packers and Badgers. She belonged to several bridge clubs and was active in the Moravian Church.

Coral Lee will be deeply missed by her family and friends who loved her dearly. She is survived by her children, Terry (Barb), Todd (Linda); three grandchildren, Sara (Andrew) Maze, Michael MacKay and Emily MacKay. She is also survived by longtime companion, Gene Heller.

Cora Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Darrel "Bud" and her parents, Harland and Fern Anderson.

Friends may call at West Side Moravian Church, 1707 S. Oneida St., from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with Rev. Gary Straughan officiating. A private burial will take place at Bayside Cemetery in Sturgeon Bay. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.

Terry and Todd, I want to send my deepest sympathy to you and your families in the loss of your mother.
I worked with her for many years at UW-Green Bay. I was teaching in the Education Department and Coral Lee helped so many of our students select the path to their future.
She was a wonderful person and a joy to work with. I can attest to the positive impact and guidance she gave so many of our education students.
