Jimmy Smith Obituary

Smith, Jimmy

Jimmy "Smitty" Smith, 42, Oneida, enjoyed his final days with his friends and family and was comforted by his loving wife before crossing over on Thursday, July 7, 2011. He was born May 17, 1969. On Jan. 28, 2006, Cayden gave his Daddy permission to marry Weeya "Mama Shell". Jim had great love for his family and it gave him great joy that he was able to spend time with them. He felt he was one of the luckiest men in the world. Jim had been employed by Oneida Elderly Services, and had been a bingo caller previously.

Survivors include his wife, Weeya Wakee Smith; his son, Cayden Smith; his stepdaughters, Misha McCormick, Kirsten McCormick; his parents, Bruce and Joanne Smith; a sister and brother-in-law, Justine and Mike Souto; his maternal grandmother, Eva Danforth; his mother-in-law, Juanette (Ben) Benigno; his father-in-law, Allen (Brenda) McCormick; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tim McCormick, Melissa Wells, Stephanie Powers, Christina Williams, all of Louisiana; Ridge McCormick, Chad McCormick, both of Florida; other relatives and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Leslie Danforth; and his paternal grandparents, Ruben and Alma Smith.

Friends may gather at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., after 10 a.m. Saturday (today). Family and friends will share memories beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday (today) at the funeral home. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Oneida Tribal Cemetery.

Bruce and Joanne,
Please know that if Lyn & I could have been there, we would have.
We're so sad to find out about your great loss. This next week as I sing/dance in South Dakota, I'll sing him a song, and dance for his memory, to send him home in a good way.
love,
Don & Lyn
