Alvin Petasek, 88, a lifelong resident of Green Bay, died Thursday, October 17, 2013. He was born January 30, 1925, to Frank and Bernice (Ostrenga) Petasek. Alvin served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. On June 14, 1947, he married Patricia Burke. He worked at Procter & Gamble for over 38 years. His friends there knew him as Fuzzy.
Alvin loved being with his family, especially the grandchildren. Special times were shared up at the cabin. He was known to speak Polish from time to time and enjoyed his garden.
He is survived by a son, Gary; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jerry Jonet; a granddaughter, Melissa (Dan) Opicka; one grandson, Phil (friend, Kim Schleis) Jonet; a great-grandson, Derek (fiancée, Abby) Opicka; a great-granddaughter, Kayla Opicka; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Norbert and Clara Petasek, Clarence "Shep" Petasek, Frank Petasek Jr.; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Elsie and Tony Gierczak, Ethel Helgerson, Shirley Anderson; other sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carol Petasek, Faye Petasek, Delores Petasek, Clarice Petasek, Beverly Schultz, Caroline and Joe Huberty, Dorothy "Vicky" Burke, Sharon Kuske, Mike and Ruth Burke, Gene and Vicky Burke; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; a daughter, Linda; brothers and two sisters-in-law, Edwin "Jake" and Eleanor "Tiny" Petasek, Robert Petasek, Leonard Petasek, Peter Petasek, David and Irene Petasek, Richard Petasek; a sister and brother-in-law, Ceil and Carl Matzke; other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sheldon Anderson, Tom Helgerson, Donald Burke, Rosemary Petasek, Joyce Petasek and Shirley Alligood.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, 2770 Bay Settlement Road. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Mausoleum with Deacon Jim Gauthier officiating. Full Military Honors will conclude the Funeral Service. Entombment will immediately follow.
