Rukamp, Clarence

Clarence H. Rukamp, 77, Green Bay, passed away surrounded by his loving family Thursday, January 30, 2014. He was born November 13, 1936, to Clement and Georgina (VandenLangenberg) Rukamp and was raised on the family farm. Clarence graduated from East De Pere High School and later, proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. On September 3, 1960, he married Bernice Jadin. They recently celebrated 53 years of marriage.

Clarence worked as a truck driver for over 35 years as a member of Teamsters Union Local #75. But his love for farming never diminished. He maintained two gardens, one being on the family homestead. Clarence was a longtime member of St. Philip the Apostle Parish. He enjoyed bowling, softball, attending Packer games for over 45 years, and watching the games in the comfort of his own home in his later years. His favorite pastime was playing cribbage or sheepshead. Clarence enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends. He was a proud grandfather and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Bob Sweeney, Shawano; Lisa and Doug Downham, Howard; two sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Carol Rukamp, De Pere; Kevin and Laura Rukamp, Bellevue; nine grandchildren, Nick (Josie), Melissa and Brent Rukamp, Caitlin and Kyle Sweeney, Samantha and Alexander Downham, Lucas and Connor Rukamp; two brothers, Dennis (Mary Kay) Rukamp, Green Bay; LeRoy (Diane) Rukamp, Greenleaf; three sisters, Shirley Baye, Howard; Betty (Lloyd) Daul, De Pere; Dorothy (Jim) Thompson, Mountain; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Tillie Jadin; two brothers, Cletus and Jerome Rukamp; a sister-in-law, Lou Rukamp; and a nephew, Dale Rukamp.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. There will be a parish wake service at 7 p.m. and a V.F.W. service___p.m. Friends may also call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 312 Victoria St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church with Rev. Ralph Merkatoris officiating. Entombment will be in Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. To send online condolences, visit www.prokowall.com.
