Donald L. Andrews, Sr., 78, Green Bay, passed away at his home on Sunday, June 17, 2012. He was born on July 4, 1933 in Green Bay, to the late Carlton Sr. and Josephine (Hansen) Andrews. Donald married Vera M. Clark on July 7, 1951 at St. Willebrord Catholic Church in Green Bay.
Surviving are his loving wife, Vera of 60 years; two sons, Donald Andrews, Jr.(special friend Judy) Green Bay, and Robert (Kimberly) Andrews of Oconto; two daughters, Roberta Schuessler of Green Bay and Sharon (Stephen) Jensen of Green Bay; one sister; Delores (deceased Ervin) Parr, five brothers; Richard (Viola), Lyle (June), Gerald (Darlene), Carlton Jr.(Diane), Darrell (Mary Ann), Eight grandchildren; Michael (Stacie) Andrews, Jason Andrews(special friend Sarah) , Michael (Amanda) Schuessler, Michelle (David) Schrab, Robert Jr. (Amanda) Andrews, Melissa Jensen, Sarah Jensen (fiance' Jason), Nicole (Jeremy) Speller, 15 great grandchildren, and many nieces nephews, family and friends.
Donald worked for 34 years as a Railroad Switchman with Green Bay and Western railroad, until his retirement. Donald loved his family and enjoyed being with his grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and spending time at his summer home on lake Noquebay. He enjoyed playing cards, especially poker, and let's not forget the "Shake of the Day". He loved his family fish-frys, and Christmas was also very important to him.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, from 4 pm until 8 pm. The prayer service will take place at 7 pm. Visitation will continue again on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1224 12th Avenue, from 9 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am with Rev. Donald Everts officiating. Entombment will be at Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lyndahl.com.
The family would like to thank Donald's brother Jerry for giving dad 36 more years to be with his family by the donation of his kidney. Other thank you's go to family and friends who stopped and visited, showing support during his illness, and all medical staff that has given care during his illness.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Donald's name.
