Janus, Eugene S. "Geno"

Eugene S. "Geno" Janus, 78, longtime Green Bay area resident, formerly of Crivitz, died peacefully Friday, November 16, 2012. He was born October 8, 1934 in Pulaski to Stephen and Rose (Koslowski) Janus. Geno served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1956. On September 5, 1959, he was united in marriage to Grace Leidel in Green Bay. They enjoyed more than 40 years of marriage until Grace preceded him in death on July 11, 2000. Geno worked as an automotive mechanic at Koeller Phillips 66 service station in Green Bay. He later purchased the business and ran it until his retirement in 1995. In his retirement, Geno moved to Crivitz where he worked as a handyman at the Country Convenience Store. He returned to Green Bay recently to be closer to his family. While living in Green Bay, Geno was a longtime member of St. Jude Parish. He enjoyed bowling with his wife for many years and spending time at their cottage in Crivitz.

Geno is survived by six children, Sue Knaus, Green Bay; Marcia ( Dan) Nader, Howard; Dave (Lisa Rhein) Janus, Manitowoc; George (Gloria Strenn) Janus, Howard; Calvin (Joanne) Janus, Jay (Katrina) Janus, all of Suamico; a stepdaughter, Linda Warner, Bellevue; ten grandchildren, Penny Janus, Wesley Knaus, Andy Nader, Kaytee Nader, Nicole Janus, Zander Janus, Zac Janus, Gracie Janus, Parker Janus and Mike Szprejda; four brothers and two sisters, Roger (Claudia) Janus, Ron (Lowie) Janus, Robert Janus, Fred (Linda) Janus, Sandy (Rick) Kreutzberg, Linda (Dave) Herrera; two sisters-in-law, Kathy Janus, Donna Janus; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Geno was preceded in death by his wife, Grace; his parents; a son, Scott Janus; two brothers, Richard Janus and Patrick Janus; a step son-in-law, Duane Warner.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. The Funeral Service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Sr. Toni Jendrasiak, SSND officiating.
